Only the dealer honors any warranty - No help from Corporate

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
one end of exhaust pipe (nearest the muffler) broke at the weld next to flange mounting bracket. Local Hyundai refused to acknowledge the break. Determined someone tried to steal parts. There is no evidence of cut. Also no evidence of weld at that connection. All other points along the exhaust had been properly welded. Called corporate office. Got claim number from corporate. They called to say that the dealer determines warranty repair. What a disappointment! We love the SUV. It's our second Tuscan and now our second dealer.

Hyundai Motor America - Hyundais are lemons

If you like throwing away thousands of dollars than buy yourself a Hyundai. Nothing but trouble out of my five year old vehicle.

Just now at 100,000 miles and already needs a new engine. These are expensive throwaway cars.

Dont waste your time or money. Horrible company.

Maybe I missed your posting the year make and model of your car but some years and models were under recall warranty you can call the FTC and the Attorney General regarding this matter that is what I did because I was getting the runaround I knew that there was a recall but I wasn't notified through them my mechanic is the one that told me so knowing this knowledge when my car engine died they tried to ask me for like maintenance receipts and all this other stuff and I was in the middle of moving also I was going into back surgery at the end of October Mike engine sees on October 6th they had the car there for almost a month and a half when I went in for back surgery or before I went into back surgery rather they finally said that the warranty would be covered and that they would replace the engine however they did not replace the engine my engine light still is on came on probably about I'll say 300 miles later also when I took it for a spin after getting it home I went to see a friend short like 20 minutes down the road I could smell oil burning I pulled over put the hood open check my oil it was bone dry so they never even put oil in it after I just had an oil change which I realized they probably had to drain the oil to do whatever they supposedly were doing but they never refilled the oil or they did in something happened I then checked everything the plug was in.. and went and bought four quarts of oil I have been in touch with Hyundai Motors of America since the beginning of October I've had to get a rental I had to replace the oil had to pay for a police report because they stole a bone bro stimulator out of my car and on that day when I found out that they took it I called Headquarters and said I want my car removed from that lot and brought to Hampton Hyundai Motors in Hampton New Hampshire some is worth Hyundai which is now called Granite Hyundai in New Hampshire is the worst place ever they will lie and cheat you any chance they can they have a guy on the phone that's nice as pie so you think you're getting a nice service but it's a facade the sales manager in there as well as the maintenance manager are both Shady individuals I looked into them both I also know the Hyundai had a big class action lawsuit regarding the engine failure thing so definitely look into that I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata which is never given me much of a problem and I've always taken good care of it up until now I feel like taking it to the bank and saying here you go good luck but I really think at this point Hyundai needs to pay my car off or fix the engine because at this point I can't even get it inspected with the engine light on so something's got to give this isn't fair and they need to make it right for all of us and I'm sorry that you are going through this too I know how much it sucks

Hyundai Motor America - 907302****

Hey what's up? I got one big complaint so get ready for Lithia Hyundai of Anchorage.

So our car was nearly a little bit over a month.

We had it like say maybe two months and with a brand new engine that got that was a replace engine from Hyundai motors of America under their warranty. The shop declined me us of service huh? Why would you decline somebody of service when you just got paid bookoo books from honeymooners of America to replace that engine and that recall on that vehicle? Who cares if our emotions are ramped up, we are the consumer.

Where is your customer service. There's things still wrong with the car but it but it's now the next year. We got the car back in December 17th. Was in the shop for 7 months already.

No rental car. Not even a courtesy call and what would a dealership give me a hard drive with somebody else's credit report on it? Not mine makes me wonder.. (Lithia Hyundai and Kia of Anchorage used cars only)

PS.

Lemon law is only for new vehicles bought from dealerships. Not for used little food for thought

Will not honor warranty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Apr 18, 2023

I spoke with the service director in person, then emailed her after she failed to call me when she said she would. She then called me to say they were not fixing it. I have also emailed General Manager who has not responded to my email.

Original review Apr 18, 2023
I had my first oil change, but shortly after the engine experienced a failure, and now they are not wanting to fix it. I opened a case with Hyundai and after two weeks the lady called me and said it was not my fault but the dealer (Capitol Hyundai in Montgomery, AL) is an independent dealer and Hyundai can't do anything if the dealer doesn't want to fix it. I have never dealt with anything like this and at this point do want anything to do with Hyundai or Kia.

How did you get them to repair it? I've been dealing with the same issues.

Car is a 2016 with 99k miles. Dealership says I need a new engine and Hyundai is refusing to replace it as if I do not have a warranty!!

I am not sure what worked as I was contacting several key people trying to get my case elevated. If it stays at the dealership level I am not sure you will get a resolution, try to get it to people higher in the company.

The general manager eventually contacted me and said they were going to repair it. The service manager was no help at all.

Update: Hyundai is going to repair my vehicle under warranty. I am somewhat skeptical but trying to be positive.

Seems as though a lot of people have had the same problem with the engine in fact they finally realize that there was an engine recall but they we were not notified nobody from Hyundai notified of this recall but cars were literally catching on fire stalling out on highways Etc I only found this out because I called the FTC here in New Hampshire when my car suddenly died I had just recently gotten an oil change so I knew it wasn't anything to do with that no warning no nothing it just stopped running they told me to take it to the nearest Hyundai which I did I was up in Rochester New Hampshire about an hour from my house so I had to have it towed then I had to have a rental because Granite Hyundai and Somersworth New Hampshire does not give rentals even though it says that they do offer loaner cars that is a lie they try to blame me for the engine failure but I told them that I know that there's a recall and then they will fix it my car was under the recall however they had my car from October 6th until sometime in November I had back surgery at the end of October and I could not drive my friend went up to get my bone growth stimulator out of my car on October 27th which was a few days after my surgery and it was gone it was definitely in the car when I locked it up on October 6th which was a Saturday when I went up to get my loner that I was promised I figured I would be back to get my car before my surgery but that never happened they kept asking me for paperwork that they did not need my car has always been maintained oil changes have done by me or my friend and finally they got it approved however about 2 weeks later my engine light came back on I called and I have been in touch with Hyundai Motors of America since October and last time I spoke to anybody there I was in December like I thought she was just stringing me along and I was about to lose my cool so I step back and took a break I recently sent the email with the attachments of my out-of-pocket cost as she said she would reimburse me for my losses she continues to tell me she doesn't get my emails or that she doesn't have the attachments after 4 months stringing me along I'm tired I want to sue this company I know there was a civil lawsuit against them for many things one of them being the engine recall the Hyundai dealerships that I end up having to deal with did me dirty they did not replace the engine and they did not fix my car however if I type in my VIN all the recalls are missing none of them show but I find it hard to believe that they fix any of them they were not told to fix the anti-theft system which I was also not notified of but they supposedly fix that too doubtful they stole from my car they when I found out that they took that bone stimulator which was a very costly piece of equipment for use after my surgery I had to wait to drive down to Somersworth which I couldn't drive for a while due to the surgery to file a police report in order to get a replacement by that time it was almost too late to do so they claim that cameras don't work just that and the other thing how does the dealership have all that inventory and no cameras I find that very hard to believe so my case manager at Hyundai Motors of America I called her and said I want my car moved that was on October 27th when I found out that my equipment was stolen out of my car I wanted my car moved to Hampton Hyundai where I have had excellent service she then said okay let me call Hampton honey it made me feel like she was actually going to help me then next day some is worth Hyundai calls and says your car is all set so a few days later I went to pick it up although I wasn't supposed to be driving yet I wanted my car back and out of their lot I then told her that my engine light came on and then it needs to go to Hampton Hyundai now they want me to pay for it to go to Hampton Hyundai which I don't feel is my responsibility since it's still under recall she's saying that the recall was fixed how can that be plus I'm out over $600 and then some because I had to rent a vehicle I was moving the tow fee was excruciatingly expensive just to go like seven miles down the road and it was a late night after hours also when I got my car back the oil reservoir was bone dry and underneath the hood there was oil sprayed all over the place oil was pooling in my spark plugs so I know for a fact that something went wrong nobody wants to be held accountable I'm still fighting to be reimbursed even though I was told I would be now for me to go get my car looked at I have to pay more money out of pocket even though it's under the warranty and should still remain under the warranty as long as this case is open I have an open case number the Case has not been resolved they're terrible tell you they're going to call you back they're going to do all these things they do nothing but yell and belittle you making it sound like something you've done wrong I will never ever buy another Hyundai in

Case Management # 2146****

Im starting to become discouraged. I got my car back for the second time last Friday, June 2, 2023.

On the next day, June 3, 2023, the same issue presented itself again for the 3rd time. Yesterday, June 5, 2023, I took my car back. I went to the dealership first and really expressed my feelings of discouragement. I just hope theyre not taking me for a ride so that my lemon law warranty expires.

I was then asked to please take the car in one more time as the lemon law warranty requires at least 3 times. I was told since they have record that my having the same issue at least twice, I should take it in again for the 3rd time. If the same happens yet again they have to start this lemon law process. Theyve issued me another loaner.

Now Im at this point I really dont want the car and would rather be swapped into another car of equal value or better. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Worst customer service ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I moved to another state. needed a copy of the title to bring to the police station for a vin check.

could not register the car without the vin check. Hyundai was not helping at all. told me to go to the dmv. the dmv would not give a copy of the title to me because it was a lease.

called Hyundai. spoke to several different people who said they would email me a copy. they did not. after the third time of checking on the copy I was told that they could not email it to me and my option was to go to my original state (5 states away) or keep the car parked.

If I could get out of this lease right now I would. Buyer beware. awful company. Also the check engine comes on and off.

Every hyundai service center has basically laughed at me when I try to get it fixed. NEVER AGAIN WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

Extremely disappointed in the service that hyundai provides consumers.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have taken vehicle to Ontario, Ca twice now because the safety features continually malfunction. I cannot use the cruse control because it keeps showing feature is "blocked" and the vehicle reduces the speed when I am on the freeway with traffic.

I first took the car in to Ontario on December 22, my appointment was at 9am.

It was not until 530 pm that the call came that the car was ready for pick up. They made some adjustments, but wasn't sure if problem was solved. IT WAS NOT.

I took car back on Ontario Jan 26, appointment was at 9:15am. After driving an hour to get there, I was told they would not get to even dianoise it until 5 pm.

WHY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT !!!

I cannot live at Ontario Hyundai, awaiting them to get around to fix the problem.

They would not give me a loaner nor offer a Lyft back to my home Gee, I could get a lyft to to local mall. Yippee!

I Called Hyundai America, filed a complaint, the response was "can I schedule another appointment for you?"

Fraud/Scam service and mechanics

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I paid over $18,000 in December last year for my car that now needs a TOTAL engine replacement due to a faulty crank shaft. Rather than taking the casting # off the crank shaft as they were told by CORPORATE to do in order to confirm it was covered under recall they instead said they didnt even know how to do that (lmao but youre a certified mechanic?) and instead they went by the VIN# (incorrectly; we were told by corporate they had to take the crank shaft casting # to verify the issue which they never did) so they could claim it wasnt covered and proceed to tell me it would be $14,000 for a new engine and so they could make money off of an issue they know but refuse to admit is covered under the recall.

An engine Hyundai specifically has issued a recall for. Same make, same model, same year. After having my car for three weeks they gave me the estimate for repairs citing simply it needed a new engine. No documentation of proof of the issue or anything.

Little do they know we took it to a reputable mechanic PRIOR to taking it to the dealership who has already confirmed the issue as the same one currently under recall.

When I have an outside mechanic take the casting number Kennesaw Hyundai claimed they could not use it to verify it was covered by the recall because it HAD to be their own mechanic who verified it. Their own mechanics who refuse/claim they do not know how to take the casting number off the crank shaft convenient.

If you look at their most recent reviews on Google and every other site you will see there are dozens of one and two star reviews from people with similar issues. Its very evident that their mechanics are purposefully lying and manipulating customers in order to make a profit off of them. There are reports of them giving people a cost for repairs with ZERO information as to what the issues were.

There are also reports of people who were told there were issues with their cars that werent present when they brought them in that suddenly were going to cost thousands in repairs. Hyundai that is FRAUD and your service and mechanics team at this dealership is just a bunch of scammers. Your mechanics lying to customers in order to make money off of them? With no documentation of the issues/no confirmation of them.

Really?

The same mechanics who refuse to follow protocol/procedure by refusing to take the casting # stand to make THOUSANDS off of me and the other customers they are blatantly lying to. They purposefully fail to communicate to customers (as cited in multiple reviews/complaints) in order to make you feel helpless and so that they can fail to escalate the issue. They simply do NOT want to do their jobs properly when they can just lie to and manipulate people who dont know any better into paying hundreds if not thousands for repairs that either werent needed when they took their cars in or are conveniently not covered under warranty/recall. They have made it impossible to get through to anyone who does their job properly because they do not want to resolve the issues.

They just want to keep scamming people out of money.

This dealership has been getting away with this for clearly years because people either dont know any better, theyve provided us with ZERO recourse for escalation, or because they blatantly ignore procedure and lie about it so they dont have to do any work out of pocket. Why would they verify my engine would be replaced under recall when they can just lie about it and then make thousands of dollars off of me bc they think I dont know any better.

Preferred solution: Total engine replacement covered under the recall and investigation of the dealership for fraud/scam.

User's recommendation: Make sure they are following protocol when they service your vehicle and that they do their job ACCURATELY without purposefully skipping steps. If they give you a cost for repairs without a detailed breakdown and evidence of the issue DO NOT FALL FOR IT. They do not make any money off of things covered under warranties and recalls so they will go out of their way to skip steps in verifying coverage so they can claim it is not covered and then turn around and sell you parts and cost of repairs that they actually will make money off of from you.
